The Historic Plains Theatre was erected in 1914 by prominent Rushville businessman, David Gourley, and became the Gourley Opera House. At the time it was built the theatre was one of the most modern such establishments in the western half of the state. Hay Springs Heritage Center

The Heritage Center Museum 2 is located at 230 N Baker. It is housed in the former Methodist Church that was built in 1887. The complex includes a local school house built in 1910 and a log cabin that once served as the birthplace of a longtime resident of Hay Springs.
